In the world of My Hero Academia, roughly 80% of people are born with a quirk, and those quirks work as narrative devices in the show. Each has a cost that tells us something about the hero who uses it and also about how that hero grows and changes. Deku must learn restraint so that he doesn't break his own body with One For All. Bakugo's quirk seems relentlessly powerful, but it's only because he's so skilled at conserving his resources during a fight.
