Editorial Guidelines

Fandom Haven publishes personality & trivia quizzes, watch guides, lore explainers, editorial deep dives, and character analyses for anime and other pop culture fandoms. These guidelines explain how Fandom Haven content is created, the standard of quality applied to all content on the site, and what you can expect from everything published here.

Who Creates Fandom Haven Content

Micah Cross is the founder and primary author of Fandom Haven. Everything published here reflects my research, perspective, and editorial judgment. However, I also partner with other fan experts when appropriate, especially when a topic would benefit from additional fan expertise. When Fandom Haven publishes content from guest contributors, that content is clearly attributed and reviewed for accuracy before publication.

Quality Standards

Quizzes

Every quiz published on Fandom Haven is held to a simple bar of quality. It has to be better than every other quiz on that topic I can find. In practice that means:

Questions are varied in type and approach. All Fandom Haven quizzes use a deliberate mix of question types, tones, and formats in order to reveal different aspects of the quiz taker's personality and find facets of them that match to various character archetypes.

Questions are meaningful while still having entertainment value. None of my quizzes ask filler questions like "what is your favorite color" since the answers will not help map the quiz-taker to a result in any meaningful way.

Every result is meaningful. Fandom Haven quizzes only include results that have significantly distinct meanings separate from all other results. Additionally, each result includes a rich, expansive description that deepens the meaning of the result and explains why the quiz taker received that result. The intent is for someone who gets a result to feel genuinely seen rather than simply labeled.

Quiz length scales appropriately with the number of results. A quiz with ten possible outcomes needs enough questions to meaningfully discriminate between them. I don't publish short quizzes with large result sets or pad out simple quizzes with unnecessary questions.

Articles

Every article is researched from the source material first and is written by someone with genuine firsthand knowledge of the source material. Where gaps exist in my own knowledge, I fill them through deep research before writing. I specifically seek out sources that represent views contrary to my own to ensure that my articles show an accurate and complete picture of each topic covered on the site.

On matters where the fandom itself is uncertain or divided (such as contested lore, ambiguous endings, or conflicting creator statements) I say so clearly rather than presenting one interpretation as settled fact.

Every article I write aims to be the most comprehensive treatment of its topic available. I write articles because I think there is something more to say on a topic that existing articles on other sites have not completely done. I aim for each article to be the only place a fan needs to fully understand a topic rather than needing to piece it together from many disparate sources. Comprehensive doesn't mean long for its own sake. It simply means that each article is a complete answer to the intent it is meant to serve.

How Research is Done

Every piece of content starts with the source material. Before writing about a character, a lore system, or a narrative arc, I go back to the canonical source. Creator interviews and official materials also inform my analysis when they're available. When writing something that is my opinion or general fandom consensus rather than established truth, I acknowledge the difference. Whenever possible, I cite and link to specific sources so that fans can review the source material themselves.

Accuracy and Corrections

I may get things wrong sometimes, and, when I do, I am committed to correcting it. If you spot a factual error, contact me at contact@fandomhaven.com with the correct information and a source. I'll review it and correct the content if warranted.

Spoiler Handling

I take spoilers seriously because many fans want to read guides and take quizzes before they have finished a series. All content containing significant spoilers is labeled at the top of the page before any spoiler-containing material appears. I have watch order guides that are structured to be useful for first-time viewers, and my quizzes can be enjoyed by fans who have not yet finished a series.

Fan Content and Image Use

Fandom Haven covers properties owned by third-party studios and publishers. Any use of character names, story elements, images, and related intellectual property is editorial and informational in nature, consistent with fair use principles. All images are attributed to their source and rights holder. They are used to illustrate and contextualize discussion of those properties, not to replace the original work. If you are a rights holder with a concern about how your property is used, contact me at contact@fandomhaven.com and I will respond promptly.
